See this is just fucking awesome.

Xenogenocide responds:

Thanks man! Appreciate it ;)

Bitchin' tapping and sweeping stuff man. The first part of that solo at 3:15 was super good in terms of legato but the dynamics of everything behind it denoted something with more held bends and taking more time. I may be nitpicking but you're technically ridiculous I just think it would be cooler if you blended that will some more soulful stuff.

Xenogenocide responds:

Thanks solongshrimp! The solo was recorded in separate parts at first and was inspired heavily by Scar Symmetry's Per Nilsson and Interval's Aaron Marshall in terms of feeling, so it may come across as an odd blend.

I didn't work too hard on it.

It's super cool but dynamically basic, and with the "Grunge" label I was just waiting for a dirty ass Nirvana guitar tone to start smashing some power chords.

My personal #1 rule of melodic screaming music, you CAN NOT scream/growl the whole song. Take Fall Of Troy or Killswitch Engage for example, they would scream a verse but do melodic vocal layers over the chorus. With the constant screaming it creates too much tension that is never released with the beautifully melodic instruments underlying it.

himenow responds:

Thanks for telling me how to practice my craft. :)

In all seriousness though, listen to some more melodic/symphonic black metal.

(Also I'm a pretty shitty singer :c )

First line, I was immediately sold. And the ending line, ugh this is genuinely fucking hilarious and I love it.

This is so fucking rad it just really erks me that the guitar comes in with that much overdrive but the drums are still stagnant, when the drums in a song are often the main driving force of the dynamics. The chorus could have used a kickass backbeat I thought. The vocal style is badass though awesome job overall.

velex responds:

Cheers! I guess I didn't think of the drums again after setting up a groove. It's a good observation. Now I'll have to do something with the drums before I feel comfortable putting this in an album or compilation. Thanks for your ear.

I mean...it's obviously not "Metal, Rock" but it's very good as a distorted techno type thing. Loved the licks, reminds me a lot of Dragonball Z.

Instrumentals need to invariably build up to a solo, or a dynamic climax, and I was slightly disappointed that there was nothing like that in the changes. I just kept waiting for a melody to guide the music but nope. Also while your guitar tone was totally bitchin' the synthesized drums are very obvious when you blast the double bass pedal without changing the note velocities to simulate performance. But I mean if this had lyrics and a real drummer it would be a tight ass song man.

Xenogenocide responds:

I'm sorry there wasn't a solo. :(

One of the very few dubstep songs that has ever really got my attention, I really dig this.

The buildup was paced pretty well, but no matter how you slice it the digital guitar midi that comes with audio editing programs is shitty.

ElectroGorrilaBear responds:

The electric guitar in a alot of ways was purposeful , and instead of trying too hard to get it to sound good i rather went with the opposite of completely processing them to a point of being their own sound with elements of guitar :P rather then the other way round , however yes if going for great guitar noises it can be difficult even with correct midi notation.Thank you for the review *OH! OH! AH AH!*
